Days after a woman was found dead at her house in Swaroop Nagar here, the police arrested her husband for the murder.

The accused, identified as Vikash Sharma, allegedly killed his wife Savita following an argument over money as their 10-year-old daughter slept inside the house, Time of India reported.

To cover up the murder, Vikash, an auto rickshaw driver, called up one of his wife’s employees at the beauty parlour and told her that he wasn’t able to contact Savita after he left the house early morning.

The murder came to the fore when the woman found Savita lying on the floor after which she informed police. The accused returned and acted shocked to find his wife dead.

Police got suspicious after the autopsy report as the time of the injury didn’t match with the narrative given by Vikash.

The police then checked his location based on his mobile phone but found that also contradicted his statement.

Vikash finally confessed to the crime during questioning. He told police that he had frequent fights with his wife over money since she was also involved in a business of lending and borrowing.

Vikash also told police that he was planning to separate from his wife Savita. On March 25, the couple had another argument after Savita’s lenders came to their home demanding money she had borrowed from them.

Vikash asked the victim to stop her business which led to a heated argument and in a fit of rage, he stabbed her in the nape of her neck with a sharp object after which Savita fell unconscious and died.

Police said they have recovered the murder weapon also.
