A video allegedly released by mischief – mongers in social media has raised the hackles of young Jallikattu supporters, who have been tirelessly campaigning for the revival of Jallikattu.

In the video, widely circulated in the social media, a cop was seen thrashing two youngsters and it was claimed that the video was shot discreetly, while the police picked the two and bashed them up in the Marina police station.

However, in the end, it had turned out to be a bogus video, with the cop seen beating up two young men, not working in the Marina police station in the first place. The video was an old one and it has nothing to do with Jallikattu supporters.

In a face book post, Balakrishnan Velaiah, an IPS officer, who came to the rescue of his fellow police men, said, “the policeman seen in the video is not from the Marina Police Station. It is the handiwork of criminals, who want to create confusion and misunderstanding between police and the public. In fact, people in the Marina know very well how the police force and volunteers have been working so closely with a very good understanding.”
