House burgled in Sulur, Rs 1.85L gold lost

Burglars entered the locked house of one R Veereshwaran in Sulur on Monday and decamped with 17 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs 1.85 lakh.

Veereshwaran, 46, of Karuppanan Brothers Layout in Kalangal area road had gone out with his wife and on return found his house lock broken and jewellery stolen.

According to Sulur police, the burglars broke open the steel bureau and took away ornaments.

The dog squad and fingerprint experts were pressed into service. A case has been filed and investigation is on, they added.
