Tamil diaspora living around the world have expressed their solidarity for the ongoing campaign to revive Jallikattu in many places in Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore.

The sentiments for the revival of Jallikattu have been echoing in the past few days since the struggle for Jallikattu intensified in Tamil Nadu. Tamil speaking community in the U.K., Ireland, Sri Lanka Japan and Australia have sought the revival of the sport, which is seen as a symbol of Tamil culture and valour.

Members of the London Tamil Sangam, World Tamil Organization and British South Indians jointly organised a pro-Jallikattu protest in front of the Indian High Commission on January 17 and 18 and submitted a petition to the High Commissioner demanding to revive the sport.

The Australian Tamil-speaking community also supported the ongoing pro-Jallikattu struggle by organising protests in Melbourne and Sydney.

The echoes of the same Tamil sentiments were heard from Jaffna in Sri Lanka and in Japan, where the Tamils congregated in protest to register their support for the cause of Jallikattu. It is heard that in many places abroad, many non-Tamil speaking Indians too joined the protests.
