‘Fair’ CBI probe will see gutka scam accused land in jail: Stalin

Coimbatore : DMK working president M K Stalin today asserted that a CBI inquiry would ensure that all involved in the gutka scam would go to jail.
In case CBI failed to carry out a fair inquiry, DMK would make sure that all the guilty would be punished once it came to power, Stalin told reporters here.
“Cases should have been registered against Minister SP Velumani and Superintendent of Police Pa Murthy, “ he said.
Police carried out the raid on the illegal pan masala manufacturing unit in Kannampalayam without any prior information, Stalin said. Arrested DMK workers were seeking a fair probe in the issue, he said, adding that false cases were being hosted against them.
“The drama was carried out to bury the mistake done by (Gutka) Rajendran and (Gutka minister) Vijayabhaskar. This is not acceptable and CBI should carry out a fair probe,” said Stalin, who was here to lead a party demonstration seeking the release of arrested party workers.
If CBI failed to render justice in the inquiry, all those involved in the scam will be jailed once DMK comes to power, Stalin said.
On a large number of police personnel inside the godown for nearly five hours, Stalin said the drama was staged to save the top police brass involved in the scam and the SP would also be jailed.
Earlier, nearly 1,000 workers participated in the demonstration. Former ministers A Raja, Subbulakshmi Jagadeeshan and Pongalur Palanisamy were among those participated in the demonstration.
