World Vision India and C.S.I. Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science organized a two days theatrical workshop on Thursday and Friday.

A total of 44 students participated in the workshop, where they were taught various skills, including voice modulation, body language and facial expressions.

M. Prabakaran, Director of Vidiyal Trust, said the workshop was held for students of Department of Social Work. They were trained in both street theatre and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA).

“While the PRA training would help students improve their communication skills, the theatre workshop would educate them about the implications of child abuse, child education, child labour, and child marriage, on society,” he said.

He added that students were also taught screenplay and script writing.

“The trained students will be engaged in enacting self-directed street plays in villages in Anaikatti on November 16 at the rural camp organized by World Vision. They would also be performing in various villages every month and also train others in this field with the help of World Vision,” he added.
