Coimbatore : About 100 workers of CPI and CPIM, including CPIM MP, P R Natarajan, were arrested Saturday, while attempting to stage demonstration protesting against the CAA here.

Raising slogans against the CAA, the leaders condemned the BJP-led government at the centre for attempting to divide the country on the basis of religion.

The protestors demanded repealing of the act and also withdraw cases against those who participated in anti-CAA protests.

The parties also took the opportunity to seek support for the Nation-wide bandh call given by major trade unions on January eight to protest against the “anti-labour policies” and economic slowdown.

Since there was no no permission for the demonstration, all the workers and leaders were arrested.
