Chennai: Film superstar Kamal Haasan’s announcement virtually entering the political arena has sparked off an intense diatribe against him from Tamil Nadu ministers and the BJP, which has desperately been wooing his contemporary and superstar Rajinikanth to come to its aid – unsuccessfully so far.

As indications are from the camps of the two superstars, Tamil Nadu will sure witness another star studded affair with the two superstars facing each other, taking on the other, going by the way their respective support base is shaping up.

While Rajinikanth has the entire BJP behind him, and is content with just a tie up with him or even his blessings, the same BJP hits out against Kamal Haasan and loses no opportunity to hit out against him. BJP senior leader H Raja took Kamal Haasan on, for his self declared opposition to Hindi and fighting for the Dravidian cause.

AIADMK meanwhile is split on its response to Kamal Haasan, as the faction that holds office – EPS – condemns the super star and dares him to enter politics. And when he has done so, has unleashed a virulent campaign against him. On Thursday, finance minister D Jayakumar “where was Kamal Haasan when Jayalalithaa was alive. He has found his voice today. Anyone can enter politics, so there is nothing special in his entering politics.” He is only inciting his fans to act against the government and ministers, the finance minister said.

The minister was reacting to Kamal Haasan’s appeal to his fan to send email complaints against the ministers. In an appeal to the fans, released by the superstar on the twitter. The TN ministers asked the superstar to provide proof of his allegations of corruption in the system.

Another minister OS Manian stooped low and attacked Kamal Haasan saying “that for becoming a leader first one must be a good husband”, hinting at the many affairs of the superstar. Kamal Haasan has come under sharp attack for his alleged affairs, all of which were in public domain.

But coming to his aid were the DMK and the OPS faction of the AIADMK.

In fact, DMK working president MK Stalin was first to come to Kamal Haasan’s help and also invited him to a function to celebrate the 75 years anniversary of DMK mouthpiece Murasoli. The super star has accepted the invitation. Rajinikanth has also been invited for the function, but it remains to be seen if Rajinikanth accepts the invite.
