Air Cmdre Rana takes charge as AFAC chief

Air Commodore V.P.S. Rana today took over the command of Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) here from Air Commodore N.S. Vaidya, who proceeded on promotion to Headquarters Training Command, Indian Air Force.

The handing and taking over of command was carried out at a solemn ceremony at the college which was attended by all personnel of the station.

Rana was commissioned in Administrative Branch in December 1984 and is a Category ‘A’ Master Fighter Controller, with unique distinction of serving in all categories of Air Defence Control and Reporting units, an official release said.

He commanded a Radar unit during ‘Operation Vijay’ and participated actively during ‘Operation Parakram’ in J&K sector.

During his appointment as Director Operations, he was instrumental in development and operationalisation of Integrated Air Command and Control System and other associated projects.

Before assuming present assignment he served as Principal Director Air Force Works at Air Headquarter, New Delhi and was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service in 2014 and was commended by Chief of the Air Staff in 1995.

He was on deputation to Zambia in capacity of Air Adviser to Indian Military Advisory Team and instructor to Defence Services Command & Staff College Lusaka, Zambia.
