Barely a day after the arrest of six persons having links with Islamic State (IS) links in Kerala, the National Investigation Agency held a 30-year youth in Tamil Nadu on Monday on similar grounds.

According to police sources, the youth, identified as Subani, was hiding in his father-in-law’s house at Kadayanallur in Tirunelveli district. Subani is suspected to have connection with the six IS sympathisers, who were arrested in Kerala on Sunday, preliminary investigations revealed.

Subani, a native of Kollam in Kerala, got married to a girl in Tirunelveli district and was working in a jewellery shop at Kadayanallur taluk.

The investigation team also seized Subani’s mobile and some documents to verify whether some of his friends also have link with IS. The NIA team took the youth to an undisclosed location for further interrogation, police added.
