Coimbatore : The Centre was seeking more time to constitute the Cauvery Management Board not due to Karnataka Assembly elections, but delay by Kerala and Karnataka Governments to nominate their members, BJP national secretary H Raja said today.

The board should comprise nine members of which five would be from the Union Water Ministry and one each from four riparian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,Kerala and Union Territory of Pudhcherry, as directed by Supreme Court, Raja told reporters here.

However, there was the delay from Kerala and Karnataka to nominate its members, which resulted in the Centre seeking more time of two weeks, and not because of Karnataka elections, he asserted.

The BJP was fighting corruption across the country and Karnataka Government was totally immersed in graft and people would take note of this during the election.

Raja said nobody was arrested so far in the petrol bomb attack on district party functionary CR Nandakumar as also the attack on the party office some time ago. This was an indication of increasing violence against the party.

It had now become a fashion to speak against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP and also Hindus, Raja added.
