BSNL to replace switching technology with IP based NGN

BSNL Coimbatore SSA (Secondary Switching Area) has planned to replace the present switching technology with the latest state-of-the-art “IP based Next Generation Network (NGN)” Switching technology. Accordingly nine exchanges will be migrated soon.

“As a first step Bharathi Colony exchange has been migrated to NGN from September 23 and Ramanathapuram exchange will be migrated from tomorrow and there will be no change in telephone numbers and billing cycle,” an official release said.

In NGN technology, customers can enjoy All India IP CENTREX, maximum of 60 parties’ audio or video conferencing service and services like Limited Fixed Mobile Telephony (LFMT) and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) in addition to the existing ADD ON SERVICES.

BSNL customers will soon get better quality of broadband connectivity with the exchange migrating to Next Generation Network (NGN).In future, the exchanges based on Internet Protocol will also support video and voice data, the release said.
