Tense moments prevailed in Veerakeralam when body of a 12 year old girl was spotted partially charred, by the public of Veerakeralam.

The people of Pongaliyur village near Veerakeralam spotted the corpse of a girl in half burnt state in the nearby forest. They reported the same to the cops of vadavalli police station. Upon reaching the spot, the police retrieved the dead body and sent it to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

It has been found in the first phase of investigation that the age of the girl could be between 12 and 14 years and an irod that was found near the body raised suspicion that she could have been killed before being burnt. The police have also not ruled out an angle of sexual assault Superintendent of police Dr M. Sudhakar inspected the body at the CMCH.

He said that the police are ascertaining the identity of the deceased and have retrieved some evidences from the crime scene. The evidences are being analyzed and the guilty will be nabbed soon, “ he added
