The Coimbatore City Police have started collecting area details in to deploy CCTV cameras in every house as suggested by the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner A.K.Vishwanathan in a Department meeting at the Commissioners Office.
Mr. Vishwanathan had earlier suggested that the crime rate of the city can be brought down if CCTV cameras were deployed all over the city.
“The CCTV cameras should be set up in important junctions and places where public gather in large numbers,” he added.
He also suggested that CCTV cameras should be set up in each household and shops to tighten security.
“Every house should be guarded by camera and people should come forward to set up cameras at their own cost,” he said. He added that if it was not affordable, two or three households could contribute to buy a single camera for the area.
In order to help the Department, police officials have started taking details regarding the involvement of public in the campaign.
One of the officials who were involved in the campaign said that they were now taking house wise details.
