A group of people today intercepted the car of Chief Minister, Edapadi Palanisamy and submitted a petition seeking implementation of long pending Avinashi Athikadavu Ground water project.

Palanisamy was going to Udhagamandalam in Nilgiris district via road from the city, to inaugurate the annual flower show scheduled for tomorrow.

As he reached Annur, some people stood on the road and stopped the his car and submitted the petition as the project was conceptualised some 50 years ago, police sources said.

Later Palanisamy told reporters at nearby Mettupalayam that the project will be taken up very soon.

He also said that the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam outer ring road work will begin at the earliest.
