The two-day preliminary trial run of the double-decker train service between Coimbatore and Bengaluru was completed successfully by the operating, engineering and electrical branches of Southern Railway Salem Division today.
“The trials were carried out successfully via Coimbatore North, Tiruppur, Erode and Salem at 80 kph. Various aspects, including overhead traction connectivity and platform approach were checked. There were no major issues found during the trial, said a railway statement.
Based on this, a full-fledged trial will be conducted with full rake at 100 kmph. Officials from Southern Railway headquarters will also be present. Once the full trials are carried out, a report will be sent to the Southern Region Commissioner for Railway Safety for approval.
The trial run technical team was headed by Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer M Prabhakaran, Divisional Engineers Nallamuthu Manickam and Mariappan and Divisional Operating manager M Boopathiraja.
