Coimbatore govt hospital denies dengue death

Coimbatore : A 19-year old male student died reportedly of dengue fever in the Government Hospital here. However, hospital authorities denied that dengue was cause of death

According to reports, Tamilarasan, a second year degree student of Government College in Udumalpet in Tirupur district, had been suffering from fever for the last few days and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital there.

As his condition worsened, he was shifted to Government Hospital in nearby Dharapuram, where tests confirmed he had dengue symptoms and was referred to the Government Hospital here, police sources said.

According to hospital sources, Tamilarasan was brought in an ambulance on Monday midnight and reportedly died on admission.However, Coimbatore Medical College Hospital authorities denied he died of dengue fever and refused to elaborate.

While five persons are undergoing treatment for swine flu, 35 had viral fever, they said. According to police, there are three dengue cases, including a
pregnant woman, and undergoing in a private hospital here.
