More than 2,000 DMK workers staged a demonstration in the city, protesting against the “total inaction” of the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation and the “rampant corruption” in the civic body.

Former minister and senior leader, Pongalur N. Palaisamy held the Corporation administration, including the Mayor and the Commissioner, responsible for the poor condition of the roads. He claimed that the roads were in much better condition when his party was in power, and promised to conduct detailed inquiries against officers involved in corruption.

He has rated the former Mayor SM Velusamy as better than Rajkumar because the former had executed at least a few projects.

Also present at the demonstration were senior party leaders like M. Kannappan and M. Ramanathan, and district functionaries.
