Fish trade halts for a day in Coimbatore over Cauvery board issue

Coimbatore : Fish merchants, both wholesale and retailers, in the district today joined the agitation protesting against the Centre for delay in constituting the Cauvery Management Board.

Over 100 retailers in Ukkadam market here downed shutters as part of the one-day token strike to protest against the Centre and also expressing solidarity with those agitating for constitution of the board, police said.

Similarly, fish sellers across the city also closed their business in response to the call given by their associations, they said.
