Ooty : Five persons were arrested today on charges of abducting and holding Tamil actor Srinivasan and his wife in captivity at a private bungalow here.

The arrests were made, following complaint from the couple’s daughter that her parents were taken by a gang to Udhaganamandalam to resolve a property dispute, for which they had reportedly taken a loan of Rs 1 crore from a private financier, police said.

With the news of Srinivasan, popularly known as ‘Power Star’, missing from Chennai, the abductors released him two days ago and kept his wife Julie in their custody, police said.

The couple reportedly told the daughter to register a complaint, if they did not return in two days. Accordingly, the daughter lodged a complaint and police swung into action and arrested the persons. Julie was also released later, they said.

The two were brought here for takeover of the bungalow in Julie’s name as part of recovering the amount. However, the price of the building was very low, leading to the couple being held and , police said.

The arrested, Mohammed Aslam, Abdul Moin, Hamas, Gouse Basha and Thahir, were taken to Chennai for further interrogation.
