Forest Dept, TANGEDCO staff leave for Chennai to assist in relief work

In addition to the 150 sanitary works who were dispatched to Chennai to assist in relief works, as many as 80 staff of the Coimbatore Division of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) left for Chennai today.

According to District Forest Officer S. Ramasubramaniam, 20 staff under the leadership of a Forester left for Chennai along with required equipment in a Forest Department vehicle.

The team would join another team of rangers, foresters and anti-poaching watchers headed by Arokiaraj Xavier, Divisional Forest Officer of Dharmapuri.

In addition, 60 workers of the Coimbatore Zone of the TANGEDCO also rushed to Chennai to clear trees and damaged electric poles that were uprooted during the cyclone.

According to officials, additional workers would be sent based on requirement.
