Nearly 30 sovereigns of gold jewellery were stolen from retired DSP Nizamudin’s house at Podanur on Wednesday.

According to sources, Nizamudin had gone to visit his relatives in Pollachi with his family. On his return on Wednesday, he found the door of the upper portion of the house broken open.

The wardrobe door was broken open. Jewellery, watch and cash were missing. The value of the stolen things has been estimated at Rs. 5 lakh. Mr. Nizamudin lodged a complaint with the police. Podanur Police along with a forensic team gathered finger prints from the crime scene. Investigation is on.
