I scream, you scream, and we all scream for some ice-cream. If eating 100% natural ice-cream is on your mind, you must head to the Pabrai’s Fresh and Naturelle ice-cream store that was recently launched in Coimbatore.

Headquartered in Kolkata, this is a family-run business, established more than three decades ago. The business is currently being managed by the second-generation entrepreneurs. Pabrai’s brand ice-creams are now available in nine cities (including Coimbatore) in India. The Coimbatore store is a franchisee run by buddies Ronald Shalo and Parthasarathy, both in their early 20s.

“When I was studying in Chennai about two years ago, I had the opportunity to taste Pabrai’s ice-cream. I liked it so much that I made up my mind that I will bring this brand to my city. After completing my studies, I, along with a friend of mine, took the Coimbatore franchise,” Parthasarathy says.

“Pabrai’s makes and sells only 100% natural ice-creams in over 60 varieties, with no artificial flavours, colours, or essences. The ingredients used for making these ice-creams are handpicked from across the globe. The jackfruit that is used to make our jackfruit fresh flavour ice-cream is sourced from a farm that is located 200 kilometres from Chennai. The cocoa that is used in our select ice-creams is imported,” Kunal Pabrai, Partner, Pabrai’s Fresh and Naturella Ice-cream, says.

The Coimbatore store offers all the 60+ varieties. The store lets you sample the ice-cream before ordering it. While you taste the ice-cream, one of the owners educates you about the flavours that you pick.

The most popular of their ice-creams is Nalen Gur, made from jaggery. “Pabrai’s Nalen Gur is our signature ice-cream. It was savoured by Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. I would like to present this flavour of ice-cream to Narendra Modi as well,” Kunal Pabrai says. Some of their ice-cream flavours like Alphonso Mango and strawberry are seasonal.

Their South Indian filter-coffee flavour, when melted, tastes like cold coffee. The flavour is original and the owners of the Coimbatore store are confident that this flavour will have many takers in the city. Their tender-coconut flavour has tiny pieces of tender-coconut flesh in it. Other flavours worth a try include muskmelon, black sesame, apple pie, Jamun, Anaar, and lemon grass. Diabetics can enjoy five flavours of sugar-free ice-creams. If you like your ice-creams spicy, you can opt for the green tea, cinnamon, or ginger honey spicy flavoured ice-creams.

Pabari’s Fresh and Naturella Ice-cream are available as scoops that you can have in regular waffle-cones, or in waffle cone with chocolate dip. If you like to binge on your ice-cream, you can opt for their 500 ml pack. Currently, this Coimbatore ice-cream store undertakes home delivery of ice-creams in limited areas across the city.
