Members of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnettra Kazhagam (TMMK) have demanded that the Supreme Court swiftly hear and finish the Babri Masjid trial and give the land to Muslims.
Participating in the Babri Masjid anniversary protests today, E. Abdul Kabir, the District Secretary of TMMK said that the BJP is following Hindutuva ideologies against Muslims in the country. “Hindu outfits are instigating communal violence in India and the ruling BJP is supporting it instead of curbing it,” he said. “Intolerance is a huge threat for the democracy in the country and the government should eradicate it.”
He said that the Supreme Court should bring an end to the Babri Masjid case and make sure that the land is given to Muslims. “It has been 23 years since the incident and justice continues to be delayed for the Muslim community. The case should come to an end and the accused should be punished under the law,” he said.
More than 500 members of the TMMK gathered at the South Taluk Office to participate in the protest. Meanwhile, hundreds of Hindu outfit members who protested in various parts of Coimbatore demanding the construction of a Rama temple in Ayodhya were detained by the police because they did not get prior permissions. They were released in the evening.
