The young woman, who claimed a few days ago that she was raped in her hostel room by an intruder, has now confessed that it was all a lie to settle scores with her parents who had opposed her relationship with her lover.

The woman, a 24-year-old engineer from Erode, claimed that two persons had entered her room in the middle of the night, stuffed her mouth with clothes to stop her from screaming, and sexually assaulted her. The police filed a complaint and it was during the medical examination that her lie was revealed. The doctors confirmed that there was no sexual assault.

In the questioning that followed, the woman confessed that she had lied in order to take revenge on her parents who were trying to get her married away to someone else when they came to know that she was in love with another man.
