A journal on grain storage will be released for the benefit of stakeholders shortly, K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director of General, Agricultural Engineering, Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), Delhi, said here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the three-day All India Coordinated Research Project Workshop on “Post Harvest Engineering and Technology”, which concluded here today, he stressed the need for a consortium or value chain mode of research rather than the conventional mode, which would facilitate the delivery of benefits to farmers immediately.
To initiate the consortium for grain storage, a value chain on turmeric was started at different centres last year. As part of the exercise, a journal of grain storage would also be released.
Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor, K. Ramasamy, made a mention of the directives of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi about coming out with an insecticide-free honey and millet drink for competing with Coca Cola at an international level.
