Twenty-five activists of the Hindu Makkal Katchi-Vivekananda People’s Movement (VPM) were arrested today, when they attempted to stage a rail ‘roko’ at Singanallur railway station in the city, seeking completion of the railway over bridge in the area.
Led by the movement president T Sivaprakasam, the workers raised slogans and proceeded towards the station to voice their demand, as the works have been pending for the last few years, police said.
However, police arrested them before they could get to the station.
