Coimbatore: Isha Foundation will offer free yoga classes to thousands of prisoners, lodged in the 16 prisons across Tamil Nadu, on the fourth International Day of Yoga on June 21.

Over the past three years, Isha has taken steps to bring to life the Isha Founder, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s, vision of this day as a major offering of yoga and a possibility for people of all age groups, religions, nationalities and social backgrounds to experience meditativeness and expanding perception of life from individuality to universality, an organisation statement said.

This year, the foundation will offer free yoga programmes in jails and deploy a well-trained Isha Foundation team for this. The main aim was to relieve prisoners of stress and reduce suicide rates in prisons.

Apart from this, there will also be free yoga programmes for RAF, BSF, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indore-Tibetan Border Police, Power Grid Corporation of India and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative personnel.

It was also in the process of training over 10 lakh yoga veeras who would offer a ‘yoga namaskar’ to people globally.
