Social activist K.R. ‘Traffic’ Ramaswamy has filed a petition in the chief judicial magistrate court at Egmore here seeking a probe by the fingerprint division of State Crime Record Bureau into the nomination of candidates by AIADMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa with her left thumb impression.

After the approval of nomination by Jayalalithaa, who has been undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospitals, AIADMK candidates V. Senthil Balaji filed nomination in Aravakurichi, M. Rangasamy in Thanjavur and A.K. Bose in Thirupparankundram.

Ramaswamy alleged that Apollo Hospitals chairman Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Dr. Abraham of Apollo Hospitals, Professor of Minimal Ssurgery at the Government Hospital in Chennai Dr. Balaji, Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Nazim Zaidi and Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni “had conspired and colluded to enable the unverified fingerprints, supposedly of the chief minister to be implanted on the attestation papers under suspicious circumstances and falsely attested the same…”

The court has posted the matter for hearing on Monday.

Earlier the Madras High Court had quashed his petition claiming the nomination through thumb impression was illegal and beyond the scope of Indian Constitution.
