Kottayam: A Thiruvananthapuram Medical College faculty member, Dr K Girish, has been booked for allegedly abusing a boy who was brought to him for counseling.

The 13-year-old boy was taken to the doctor’s private clinic on August 14 as he had learning disabilities.

The assistant professor talked to the parents and then called the boy for counseling, police said. He came out in a depressed state after 20 minutes and on much persuasion said the doctor abused him.

The childline was alerted and its officials took the victim’s statement and informed the police.

Girish, who is former state coordinator of NHRM, runs two clinics in Thiruvananthapuram and one in Kochi even as government has banned private practice.

Complaints have been filed with the Chief Minister, the Director General of Police and the City Police Commissioner.
