A medical team from Gem Hospital here, led by Dr P. Chendilnathan, has set up a medical relief camp at Avadi, Chennai, to help flood-affected people and prevent any outbreak of disease.

The CRPF in Avadi, has agreed to coordinate the distribution work depending on the need of the people, as four trucks of relief materials had already been sent to Chennai by the hospital, in association with Rotary Club of Coimbatore Spectrum.

In response to an appeal from the Club, bed sheets, milk powder, water bottles, medicines, bread, biscuits, and sanitary napkins were received at three collection centres, all worth Rs.16 lakh. Rapid Action Force (RAF-105 Battalion) helped in logistics and sent the trucks with their personnel, Dr. Chendilnathan said.

The medical team has set up several relief and medical camps and would be serving different regions of Chennai for the next three days, he said.
