Outreach programme on renewable energy held

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Kumaraguru College of Technology in association with Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Development Society held a technical outreach programme on `Implementation of Renewable Energy for Rural development’ here on Monday.

The programme was to create awareness among researchers, young scientists, engineers from industries and engineering students and exchange ideas on implementation of renewable energy techniques. The highlight of the programme was to look at ways to implement novel renewable energy technologies and pave the way for the rural development.

The sessions were handled by experts which included Dr G.Giridhar, Deputy Director General of Solar Radiation Resource Assessment in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, National Institute of Wind Energy, Dr S Kamaraj, Director of International Institute of Renewable Energy, and Dr S Karthikeyan, Professor in bio energy in the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

They spoke about the research and development opportunities in the field of renewable energy in the country and abroad.
