Coimbatore : The Para Volleyball Association here on Monday sought better facilities for physically challenged players.

Members of the association, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Para Volleyball Association, submitted a petition to District Collector TN Hariharan and said players had been participating in the sitting volleyball games for the last three years and were winning laurels at the national and state level tournaments.

Despite this, there lacked proper practice facilities, necessary equipment and infrastructure, besides required funds, they said.

There was no support from any individual or organisation, and despite the city having a good stadium, physically challenged did not have any facility for practice.

They also requested the Collector to provide financial assistance to the deserving players under his fund and also allot funds under the Smart City project for setting up a separate sports arena for them.
