A scooter parked in front of an AIADMK worker was completely burnt when some miscreants hurled a petrol bomb on his house in Selvapuram in the early hours of Wednesday.

Morning walkers and other passersby noticed the vehicle in flames around 5.30 a.m. and immediately alerted Kumar, an active worker in Amma Peravai, who rushed out and managed to douse the fire, police said.

Police, who rushed to the spot, found a broken bottle, a fuse wire and the stench of petrol near the vehicle, confirming that miscreants had hurled a petrol bomb on it.

Meanwhile, a petrol filled bottle with fuse wire was found near a car belonging to Kumar, who had worked as an assistant to a former Mayor, some years ago.

Kumar gave some names to the Police as suspects, including one Perumal. Investigations were on, they said.
