In the meeting of the People’s Welfare Joint Movement (PWJM) held at Coimbatore today, the party decided to organise a series of intense agitations against the Coimbatore Corporation’s irresponsible activities.

The meeting held at the District Committee office of CPI (M) at Gandhipuram, Coimbatore, was chaired by Mr. P.R. Natarajan, former M.P. It was attended by the local office bearers of CPI (M), CPI, MDMK, and VCK. Members pointed out that the city roads that were dug up for laying underground drainage have not been repaired so far. As a result the public are put to great inconvenience. Due to the indifferent attitude of the corporation officials, many works like building over-bridges etc. are proceeding at snail’s pace. It was decided at the meeting to agitate against the corporation. Campaign will be carried out to gather public support.

The participants included CPI (M) District Secretary V. Ramamoorthy, MDMK State Election Wing Secretary Sethupathi, local leaders Surya Nandagopal and Rajendran M.C., CPI District Secretary K.M. Selvaraj, and Sundaram and Ilakkiyan of the VCK.
