Coimbatore : Protesting against the transfers of 10 tahsildars in the district, about 50 employees of Tamil Nadu Revenue Department staged a demonstration in front of the district collector here.

The tahsildars were transferred to nearby Tirupur and Nilgiris districts, under the instructions of the Election Commission in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The demonstrators said that such practices of transfer should be done away with, as those transferred were not not familiar with the place they were being sent for election duties.

Seeking to withdraw such transfers, they said that the staff would resort to boycott their duties in it continued.
