The Coimbatore Marathon aims at bringing together people from various walks of life from across the country to spread awareness and support those who are fighting cancer. The Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) that operates out of G Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, Coimbatore has joined hands with Coimbatore Runners to organize The Coimbatore Marathon.

The Coimbatore Marathon is hosted on the 1st Sunday ever October. October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, CCF aims to make the Coimbatore Marathon a permanent fixture in the running calendar of the country. This year, CCF has teamed up with Coimbatore Runners and Show Space to organize the Coimbatore Marathon.

Coimbatore Cancer Foundation was conceived by Padmabhushan Shri. K. Sreenivasan, who was himself a cancer patient. The Foundation was and established on 4 March, 1991 and currently functions as a registered charitable trust and a research institution providing Counseling and Cancer Care Support to patients and their family members in the cancer wards (VNCC) of G Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, Coimbatore.

Today (31 August) is the last day to register for The Coimbatore Marathon that is scheduled to take place on 4 October. Those interested in participating in this event can log on to the website www.coimbatoremarathon.com and register for the race categories by paying the stipulated registration fees. There is the 21.1 km half marathon, 10 km run and the 5 k walk that you can register for. There are separate categories for men and women and attractive cash prizes will be given to the winners in each category.

All registered participants will receive a certificate and a t shirt. Medals will be given away to winners in each category. Plus, on the day of the Marathon, breakfast will be served to all participants.
