A social activist has alleged that a private school was demanding Rs. one lakh for issuing transfer certificate for his daughter.

According to Elangovan. P, when he sought the transfer certificate for his daughter, the management of Shakti Vidyalaya Matriculation School at Annur demanded Rs. one lakh.

“My daughter Sakthi Priya Elangovan studied from Grade 5 to 10 in the school. She scored 449 out of 500 in the recently concluded Grade 10 exams. The school management had recently changed. I am from a humble background. Since the new management had stopped all financial assistance which my daughter was receiving, I decided to admit her in another school. But they refused to issue me the TC. They demanded the huge amount from me, in spite of knowing my financial status,” Elangovan said.

“I petitioned the District Collector last week in this regard. But no action has been taken so far,” he added.

School management was not not available for their comments
