Finally, after all the delays and confusions, controversial actor Silambarasan appeared before the City police here on Monday as per the orders issued by the Madras High Court.

The duo was booked under Sections 4 r/w 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act 1986, and Section 509 (Words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of woman) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 67 of Information Technology Act.

Consecutive bail pleas were filed by both Simbu and music director Anirudh Ravichander after they were asked to appear before the Race Course Police for inquiry in connection with the controversial ‘beep song.’ Anirudh had earlier appeared before the police, without attracting media attention.

But, Simbu’s arrival on Monday was announced earlier by his father T. Rajendar’s visit to the police on Sunday. Fans and mediapersons alike thronged the Race Course Police station since morning. Sources claimed that the actor, who landed in the city around 7.30 am, stayed at a hotel close to the Race Course police station.

The inquiry was shifted from the Race Course Police Station to the Kattoor Police station for security purposes. But, the Kattoor Police station too was filled with fans and public. Traffic crawled at snail’s pace after the Nanjappa Road was jammed by fans waiting to see him. After a 20-minute-long inquiry, the actor was greeted by cheering fans. He, in turn, waved back at them.

Talking to the reporters outside the police station, Simbu said that he had cooperated with the authorities. “I have answered all the questions and have said that I’m not guilty. The rest is at God’s mercy. He will take care of me,” the actor said.

Simbu’s father, T. Rajendar, who later came to the District Collectorate to support the hunger strike staged by journalists, said that he was grateful to the police and media for their support adding that his family will face the case legally.

“STR was recently injured in small accident during his shoot for the movie ‘Acham Enbathu Madamaiyada.’ But, despite the injury, he has appeared for the hearing in order to abide by the law,” he added.
