Responding to the queries made by the beneficiaries and pensioners of the Salem Division of the Southern Railways, officials today released a fund of Rs.5,10,397, during the mid-term Adalat here in Coimbatore. About 60 retired railway pensioners/beneficiaries attended the Adalat and submitted their claims.
According to a release from the Southern Railways, of the 34 representations that were made by the pensioners, 21 were accepted and the money was given to the beneficiaries. However, 12 representations were not entertained as they were reportedly in contravention to the extant rules.
Another representation was made to wait for want of sufficient supporting documents, and 21 more petitions that were submitted will be analysed before starting further proceedings.
The event was held at the Club Premises, near the Divisional Office and was presided by Ravi Sekhar Sinha, Additional Divisional Railway Manager. The members of the Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies, (SCOVA) an organization recognised by the Government of India, were also present to assist the pensioners.
G. Janarthanan, Divisional Personnel Officer, Anand Bantya, Assistant Divisional Financial Manager, and other Divisional Officers were present during the Adalat.
