The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal here today attached a Government bus for failing to pay the compensation of Rs. 15.90 lakh to the family of an accident victim.

Venkatprasad was knocked down by a bus in Maruthamalai on the outskirts on March 31 last, killing him on the spot.

The deceased’s wife Saroja had filed a petition in the Tribunal seeking adequate compensation from the State Transport Corporation and the Tribunal had ordered that Rs.15.90 lakh be paid as compensation a few months ago.

Since the Corporation management failed to pay the amount, court officials seized and attached the bus this afternoon.
