The textile industry today hailed the special package announced for the sector.
The Indian Texpreneurs Federation secretary, Prabhu Damodharan, in a statement, thanked and appreciated the government in understanding the importance of the textile sector and its potential.
“More thrust will help whole value chain of textile manufacturing in the long run,” he said.
The president of Tirupur Exporters Association, A. Sakthivel, welcomed the package and said it would help increase export and growth while creating more employment for women.
Southern India Mills Association chairman M. Senthilkumar said the new measures would greatly help exports that attract 16 to 20 per cent duty in all major international markets.
On making employee’s contribution to EPF optimal for those earning less than 15,000 a month, they said it would benefit the ‘textile value chain’.
On the announcement on drawback at all industries rate be given even when fabric inputs are imported under the Advance Authorisation scheme, Prabhu said the government should carefully analyse and implement it for select fabrics that are not available in India. “Else it will hit our domestic industry like spinning, weaving, knitting sectors and affect our economy,”he added.
“Providing an additional incentive of 10 per cent capital subsidy in amended technology upgradation fund scheme from the present 15 per cent will boost employment generation,” Sakthivel added.
