With student strength of 50 girls who are studying in classes III to IIX, and four faculty members who work part-time, a caretaker, and a councillor, Tinkle After School Learning Centre continues to empower the girl child from the weaker sections of the society. About 75 girls have successfully been trained by this centre since this inception in 2012.

The centre, located in Pannimadai, Coimbatore, provides training to the girl children belonging to families that cannot afford the same. Tinkle After School Learning Centre, through its dedicated set of volunteers, also offers its students training in various handicrafts like drawing, embroidery, stitching, origami among others.

Girls raised by single parents, families that cannot afford to send their children to coaching classes, and orphaned girls are enrolled at the centre. Tinkle functions between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm. The students visit the centre after school hours. Classes at the centre commence only after providing the students with nutritious evening snacks.

“A majority of the students eat just the mid-day meals that are served at their schools. This is the only meal that they eat. At the centre we provide them with healthy and nutritious snacks everyday. We also provide them with the necessary stationery that they require on a daily basis,” T. Suresh Kumar, one of the founders of Tinkle After School Learning Centre, shares.

Suresh also says that Tinkle After School Learning Centre has plans of opening up more centres in Coimbatore. They plan to enrol about 1,500 students. Currently, this after-school learning centre is funded by its well-wishers, friends and family. The centre was established by the BNM Trust. Suresh Kumar, Sambath Kumar, and S. Kripakar are its founders.
