A tipper lorry that came on a one-way was the reason for the death of the engineer and not the barricade of an arch erected as part of MGR Centenary Celebrations in the city yesterday, claimed Minister SP Velumani.

Velumani accused DMK MLA N Karthik for spreading false news about the incident and asked why he has helped the lorry driver. Besides there was the CCTV footage to prove that lorry driver was on wrong side, he said.

It was really disturbing to hear about the death. But some were spreading wrong information and blowing it up, Velumani said.

Speaking on the Two Leaves symbol, he said that it was better for T T V Dinakran to keep away, as was done by former Chief Minister, M G Ramachandran’s wife Janaki, after failing to get the Two Leaves symbol, Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister, S P Velumani said.

“It is better to keep away, without again trying to get the symbol”, Velumani told reporters here.Any candidate for R K Nagar by-poll will be acceptable to all, he said.

Earlier, Velumani, along with Forest minister, Dindigul Srinivasan, Education Minister, K A Sengottian, Cooperation Minister, Sellur Raju, Deputy Speaker, Pollachi V Jayaraman, flagged off a mobile exhibition displaying the achievements of former chief minister and AIADMK founder, M G Ramachandran, organised by the Government Public Relations department.
