With fuel-run vehicles considered as the largest polluting agents on the road, the concentration is slowly shifting to electric cars. According to the assessment by automobile entrepreneurs, Indian roads will be completely filled with electric cars in the next 10 years.

Briefing reporters during the three-day Mega Workshop on Vehicle Dynamics and Design, jointly organised with Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) here on Thursday, Aditya Goshi, the CMD of Republic Motors, said that the awareness on using electric vehicles has been increasing in the country in the recent years.

“We have had a few unsuccessful models in the past, but now people are more aware of battery cars and there is a good reception for such cars,” he said.

He further added that even the government is welcoming such proposals as there is a wide concern for creating a pollution-free environment.

“We are now in the process of creating a three-wheeler, completely run on battery and it will be available soon,” he said.

Vikram Motwani, the CTO of Republic Motors, said that a five-seater vehicle, completely constructed using fibre, would be launched later this year.

Commenting on the workshop, C. Vasantharaj, Professor and Head of the Department of Automobile Engineering, said that the students who were participating in the workshop would be representing the college in the International Go-Kart Championships (IGC) 2016.

“Students are to be taught the various dynamics, mechanics, technology and manufacturing of a quality and efficient kart race vehicle in the workshop,” he added.
