City-based goldsmith UMT Raja has carved the face of AIADMK founder and former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran on a 30 cm long piece of sugarcane.

Talking to Covai Post on his latest work, Raja said it took him just one day to carve ‘Puratchi Thalaivar’ face on the adi karumbu (root of the sugarcane). “This is my way of showing respects to the revolutionary leader on his 100th birth anniversary,” he said.

Last week Raja created a miniature sculpture – Jallikattu fire in youth – out of 300 mg gold.
