Coimbatore :  With public cooperation and  strict monitoring by police, the lock down on fourth Sunday of this month, to check the spread of Coronavirus, was total as people preferred to remain indoors.

The city wore a deserted look as shops and commercial establishment downing their shutters, barring some medical shops and milk booths.

About 3,000 police personnel monitoring the situation across the district, the roads were without any major vehicles, leading to a deserted look.

The movement of vehicles into the city from other State and Districts were monitored by surveillance cameras and manual checks at 54 check posts and only vehicles with essential commodities were allowed inside.

All the tasmac liquor shops, meat and fish shops, vegetable shops were also closed.
