World’s largest wooden chakra (spinning wheel) to be installed at the Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. The spinning wheel is ready for the dispatch from the unit of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Ahmadabad.
The chakra is made from high quality teak wood which is estimated to last for 50 years. The four ton chakra was built by 26 workers and carpenters who completed their work in 40 days, KVIC said in a statement.
The statement said:“VK Saxena, Chairman of KVIC took the initiatives and decided to install the world’s largest spinning wheel at the international airport Delhi. It showcases the symbol of India, non-violence to the world through the airport. Where nearly 250000 people or tourists visit a day”
It adds, Paryog Samiti, a KVIC unit took the order of making the spinning wheel which is located at Sabarmati Ashram of Mahatma Gandhi, Gujarat.
