Tamil film Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions will next be collaborating with filmmaker Jyoti Nisha for a feature-length documentary film about Babasaheb Ambedkar, titled ‘BR Ambedkar – Now and Then’.

It is a documentary film directed by Jyoti Nisha and will be on the life of Babasaheb Ambedkar, titled B R Ambedkar – Now and Then. Pa Ranjith is bankrolling the film under his banner Neelam Productions.

Filmmaker Pa Ranjith took to Twitter to announce his new venture! He wrote, “Announcing @officialneelam next collaboration – with @jyotinisha for her directorual debut “B R Ambedkar Now and Then’ – this film will make history! Very excited to work on this. Jai Bhim!”

On the progress of this venture, we hear that it has reached the post production mode. The film was shot in different locations across the country such as Mumbai, Delhi, Dehradun, Nagpur, Pune, Raipur, Punjab, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Gujarat, Saharanpur, Shravasti and Lucknow. The team has put in a lot of research into B R Ambedkar – Now and Then due to which the shooting period stretched to around two and half years.

Revealing the poster of the film, there was a Facebook post that reads: The film ‘B. R. Ambedkar Now and Then’ (BRANT) draws a parallel between Ambedkar’s larger than life fight against an omniscient Brahmanical hegemony during the Indian National movement and the contemporary times in India when his minority status and Constitution are once again becoming a challenge for the intrepid Brahamanical intelligencia. This feature length documentary of 90 minutes argues and explores ideas of religion, revolution, freedom and Indian mythology, touching upon the scheme of caste in Indian politics and academia… Footage shot over the course of years covers various Dalit-Bahujan protests, marches, and conferences of significance all over India… ‘B. R. Ambedkar Now and Then’ also touches upon the role of the Fourth Estate, the popular Indian media and the politics of its narratives.”
