India set up an intense semi-final clash against Pakistan in the ICC U-19 World Cup after they cruised through Bangladesh on Friday.

India crushed Bangladesh by 131 runs in the quarter-final, where India produced a stunning all-round display at the Queenstown Events Centre.

Shubman Gill starred with his 86 while Abhishek Sharma’s 50, 2/11 and agile fielding earned him the plaudits.

All eyes are now on the semi-final clash slated on January 30 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

India captain Prithvi Shaw said he was aware that it will be a challenging clash while vice-captain Shubman Gill revealed that the team was excited for the semi-final against Pakistan.

“It will be quite challenging and we are looking forward to it,” Shaw said at the post-match presentation.

“We are all excited to play against Pakistan. It’ll be a great match,” Gill acknowledged after the match.

India once more put up an all-round performance that left Bangladesh without any answers.

From Shubman Gill’s 86 and Abhishek Sharma’s 50 to brilliant bowling by Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Abhishek, India absolutely dominated.

Even in terms of fielding, India ruled with Mavi and Nagarkoti inflicted two fabulous run outs and Abhishek taking two excellent catches at the slip.

India won the toss and elected to bat on what like a good batting wicket.

India got a good start ot their innings with captain Prithvi Shaw bringing up a solid 40. However, it was the vice-captain Gill who lit up the Queenstown Events Centre with his sensational display.

However, crucial innings of 34 and 50 from Harvik Desai and Abhishek, respectively, propelled India to a competitive score of 265.

Mavi and Nagarkoti stemmed the flow of runs brilliantly from both ends at the start of India’s bowling attack before Mavi sent Naim back to the hut.

Pinak Ghosh and Saif Hassan struck a balanced partnership from there, looking to stabilise the innings but struggled to score a lot of runs off the Indian bowlers.

That seemed to have put a lot of pressure on the Bangladeshi bowlers and Nagarkoti eventually struck. Abhishek took a brilliant reaction catch at the slip and Hassan had to depart.

Apart from bowling those pacy deliveries, Mavi and Nagarkoti inflicted two fabulous run outs to leave Bangladesh down by four wickets.

Apart from his solid fielding, Abhishek also took two wickets as Bangladesh slumped further.

It was only a matter of time from there before Bangladesh’s resistance ended and India made it to the semi-final.
